The big news at our house is that Kirk has the biggest present:
He will be so excited!
In the meantime, it’s making the other kids crazy – not just that Kirk has the biggest gift, but because they can’t guess what it is.
The first graders already figured out all their little presents are just socks.
“But you need new socks!” I keep saying.
They are not impressed.
But Kirk’s present is definitely not socks, they say.
“That present is socks,” I say, “really tall socks for his new braces.”
They just roll their eyes at me and groan, as if I already had a house full of teenagers.
